CBI should rather be inspecting the original of "pirated software" for piracy invasions and raid their development premises as frequently as possible. There could be a large number of instances wherein these non-free software sold under proprietary licenses, which are labeled as "originals", contain source code lifted from free and open source projects, which, are licensed under Free/Open licenses. This is a crime that goes against spirit of protection of copyrights.
It is no doubt that any single agency cannot execute this task of verification. But amongst the larger public, there could be enough experts, who can devote themselves to the task of identification of similar code, provided the access is given. As long as these proprietary and non-free software do not release their source code for inspection before the public at large, their allegations of software piracy should never be entertained. CBI should recall that even the act of reverse-engineering proprietary software to reveal instances of theft of technology from open/free source projects, has been labeled as crime in countries like US (The DMCA Act etc), whereby one can assume the collusion of such proprietary companies with law enacting institutions for protecting their vested interests.
The second issue is that every public institution that uses such proprietary and non-free software, is also becoming a co-fraudster to the hidden illegal activities of proprietary software establishment. All public institutions should be requested to entertain only Free Software, or such software released under Free/Open public licenses. Every research institution within the nation should be asked to work on the Free/Open equivalents of proprietary software and build it in the larger interest of the coming generations.
Global institutions like UNDP and UNESCO have endorsed use of Free Software. Its only natural that a premier investigation agency promotes it further.
PRO ACTIVE AGAINST CORRUPTION
HOW COULD CBI STOP THE CORRUPTION?
In my opinion, CBI should ACT as Window and motivate public at large report corruption and encourage public.
Most corruption can be checked by Income Tax staffs as at the end of the corrupt money is unaccounted and IT people are the mainly responsible or duty bound to check, where as they are not doing so now.
So the CBI in Delhi especially target ONE Month for IT staff monitoring and book them.
I am sure many will fall in and things will start improving at least some extent.

PURPOSE: AS CITIZENS WE HAVE GOT HIGHEST REGARDS/RESPECT TOWARDS UPSC RECRUITMENT PROCESS, BUT WE ARE UPSET WITH THE RECENT WRONG DOINGS OF THE UPSC SELETECTION COMMITTEE.
It is come into light that the Integrity of the UPSC has been breached. Until recent past the UPSC is one of the few constituted bodies that has been affected to the bare minimum by corruption. Until the recently, UPSC's Selection Process has been considered as one of the best in the World. It is unfortunate that it is being infected with corruption/favourism over the past few years, and increasingly more for year 2008, in/during the Personality Test held by UPSC for selection to the various Central Services
For instance the daughter of one of the reputed IAS officer has been selected in 2008 for Central Services. This particular candidate is nowhere near to being eligible for the post for which she has been selected. Another highly communal biased candidate with his father's role in RSS and his father's relationship with the UPSC member(s), got the exorbitant marks in the Personality Test which he does not deserve.
When the toppers get about 200 out of the 250 points, it is next to impossible for some of the corrupted candidates to get 230-240 points with their mediocre achievements in the written tests and their low aptitude, without the unscrupulous strings leading to the corrupted board members. The institutes which such candidates have approached for training have confirmed the abysmally low aptitude/personality of those candidates.
It is very transparent to everyone including the common man that such candidates have been selected only due to the influence and/or recommendation of their immediate family members and other political figures in addition to their connections to the Members of the UPSC Board/Selection Committee responsible for the Personality Test.
We will keep you posted with specific instances in this regard. Controller and Auditor General has helped one candidate in the recent past who could not have got selected without the CAG's help. Another candidate got the maximum marks with the direct help of UPSC Chairman.

Why don’t we start with the Cyber Cafe's all across the country, why don’t you empower people our very own citizens of India, and let them do checks on Software companies and Cyber Café’s who use fake Software’s, in-addition I work for an IT company and have a few years of experience under my belt, I know a few big companies who are using fake software’s and also other companies who Handel there IT infrastructure who are hand in glove in helping / using fake software’s in there day to day work.
